I am about to start as an Assistant Professor at the School of Biological Sciences at Southern Illinois University. Prior to that, I was a postdoc at Sullivan's Lab at Michigan State University. I finished my Ph.D. in 2023 when I was working with Professor Inés Ibáñez at the School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS), University of Michigan.
I am a plant community ecologist with a focus on biological invasions, restoration, and conservation ecology. In my current research, I investigate the contribution of community assembly history to invasion and reinvasion processes following control practices of introduced invasive plants in temperate forest understories. Specifically, I try to understand how native plant communities can be resistant to plant invasion. I use both fieldwork (experimental and observational studies) and quantitative systematic review approaches to investigate mechanisms of invasion.
